A witness and surveillance video revealed that a brave individual was gravely injured while attempting to protect his girlfriend from two individuals inside a convenience store in Queens. The victim’s life now hangs in the balance.
In the footage shown to The Post, a woman can be seen deeply distressed, stooping over her boyfriend and embracing him as he lay injured on the floor inside One World Convenience in Richmond Hill on Monday night.
A 34-year-old individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, was shot four times in the back and twice in the right arm at a shop on Jamaica Avenue near 120th Street around 10:30 p.m., as reported by authorities.
A video captured the suspected shooter and another individual, who was waiting near the entrance, attempting to engage in conversation with the friend of the victim. The friend had entered the store shortly after them to purchase a bottle of water and candy.
The woman exited the store, skillfully evading those who were following her. Shortly after, her partner, who had been patiently waiting in a nearby car, entered the store and confronted the pursuers, as captured in the footage.
A heated argument ensued between the boyfriend and the man near the door, leading to a physical confrontation, as captured in the video.
According to the manager, the individual, who was wearing all black and had a cap covering their dreads, suddenly produced a firearm from their waistband.
The individual firmly gripped the weapon with both hands and directed it toward the left shoulder of his accomplice. Without hesitation, he fired at the boyfriend who was positioned with his back to the store’s door, facing both adversaries.
The victim’s clothes were stained with blood as he collapsed onto the floor, eventually rolling onto his back, as seen in the clip.
A group of individuals, who had arrived in a dark vehicle, swiftly fled the scene before the victim’s partner rushed back into the store, letting out a piercing scream as they reached out to comfort their beloved.
The victim was quickly taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where authorities stated that he is still in critical condition as of Wednesday.
The manager mentioned that the victim and his girlfriend were frequent patrons at the store, which still had a shattered front door on Wednesday.
