Man Paid Woman to Molest Children to Record Abuse; Both Arrested by Authorities after Stash of Inappropriate Recordings Busted

Police have apprehended the alleged accomplice of a Miami man who was apprehended for possessing child sexual abuse material just over two months ago, according to a press release issued on Monday.

According to the Miami police, Mara Lujana Blandon Obregon, 50, of Matagalpa, Nicaragua, was receiving funds from 51-year-old Francisco Ramon Cruz Rodriguez in order to create videos depicting sexual abuse of minors. She is currently being prosecuted in the Central American nation.

According to the police, the victims were a girl and a boy, who is currently 16 years old and is believed to be a relative of Blandon Obregon.

Cruz Rodriguez was initially apprehended by Miami police at his residence in Little Havana on July 24. They reported that they discovered nearly 500 recordings and images of child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices.

The photos and videos, according to authorities, showed girls and boys who appeared to be as young as two.

Several screenshots were discovered by detectives in an arrest report, which depicted Cruz Rodriguez on a video call with a female who was masturbating herself while Cruz Rodriguez appeared to be exposing himself to her.

Police claimed that they were able to identify one of the victims and trace the source of the video contact to Blandon Obregon.

Blandon Obregon was apprehended by the Nicaragua National Police after Miami police disclosed the information.

According to the police, she is currently being charged with sexual exploitation and pornography, which could result in her imprisonment in a Nicaraguan penitentiary for a period of five to seven years.

“Crimes that threaten the welfare of our most vulnerable victims will not be tolerated, and we will continue to remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the safety and justice for all,” Miami Police Department Chief Manny Morales said, in part, in a statement.

Cruz Rodriguez continues to be detained at the Metro West Detention Center on account of an immigration hold and numerous felony offenses.
