Man Gets Life Imprisonment For Stabbing Girlfriend 30 Times Using Different Kitchen Knives in California

Ventura County, CA: A man received a life sentence for killing his girlfriend with different kitchen knives. According to the court, Euren Balbuena of Simi Valley, California, stabbed his girlfriend Zaira Patino-Trejo to death in February 2020.

He also attacked Patino-Trejo’s mother with a deadly weapon. Balbuena, 33, was convicted in November of first-degree murder, battery causing great bodily injury, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Balbuena used several kitchen knives to stab Patino-Trejo, 30 times during an argument. Police say her mother saw Balbuena kill her daughter and ran for help, but not before he slashed her twice in the head.

During Balbuena’s sentencing on Wednesday in Ventura County, Patino-Trejo’s family met in court to read their victim statements.

The victim’s stepfather apparently lunged at Balbuena and hit her at least once while her mother was speaking, according to the Ventura County Star. The stepfather was then led out of the courtroom by bailiffs.

The DA’s office said Thursday that there was no case made about the fight in court. Balbuena got a life sentence in jail. In 33 years, he will be able to get out of jail.
