Man Forced 14-year-old to Sleep with Him after He was Released from Jail in New York; Also Exploited Her Multiple Times Before Jail

A man, 21, was taken into custody for the assault of a 14-year-old girl shortly after being released from a jail in upstate New York, according to authorities.

A detainee at a facility in Upstate New York was on the verge of release when authorities apprehended him for reportedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl, with whom he had been communicating during his incarceration.

Ronald L. Burris III, 21, was set to be released from Ulster County Jail in Kingston on Nov. 20. Detectives charged him with two counts of second-degree rape and other charges for having sex with a minor multiple times before his incarceration, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

When authorities stumbled upon the disturbing revelation, the suspect was already in custody for a different offense.

Police launched an investigation in September after they were alerted that Burris was having sexually explicit conversations electronically with the 14-year-old girl while he was detained, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Following a deeper inquiry, officials discovered that the individual had engaged in sexual acts with the minor multiple times throughout the summer.

Burris, hailing from Saugerties, faced additional charges related to the endangerment of a child’s welfare.

Following his arrest, he faced arraignment in Saugerties Justice Court, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Burris has been taken back to the Ulster County Jail, where he remains in custody with a bail set at $30,000.
