Following his arrest in connection with a number of complaints of sexual assault, a man from Rutland, who is 54 years old, is currently facing charges that include rape of a child, according to the announcement made by the authorities.
According to a statement released by the Rutland Police Department, Shawn Baillargeon was taken into custody on Tuesday morning. He was charged with aggravated rape of a child, indecent assault and battery on a kid under the age of 14, and rape of a child. In addition, he was accused of molesting a child.
The arraignment of Baillargeon was reportedly transported to the East Brookfield District Court by the police.
After receiving a report of previous sexual assaults that had occurred in Rutland over several years, the Rutland police reportedly began their investigation toward the end of May as reported by WHDH News.
“The Rutland Police Department would like to commend the bravery of the victims in this case who came forward,” the officials said, although they did not disclose any other information regarding the allegations.
According to a statement released by the police, “We encourage all victims of sexual abuse to come forward, and we promise to do everything in our power to offer support.”
