A woman in Denham Springs, Louisiana, approximately 40 minutes east of Baton Rouge, fell to the ground while walking down her driveway on Tuesday, moments before two dogs attacked her.
Cheryl Boudreaux, a neighbor, reported that her mother saw the alarming event unfold and promptly contacted the authorities to help the woman.
“My mama had to stand there and watch, and she was like, ‘Y’all need to hurry up and get here, they’re eating this woman,'” Boudreaux told ABC affiliate WBRZ-TV.
Boudreaux mentioned that her mother believed the woman was deceased since she had ceased to move.
Randall Averette, a witness to the attack, detailed the serious injuries sustained by the elderly woman.
“When I went over there, she was laying on the ground, paramedics bandaging her up.
“The paramedics said she that her left leg was torn pretty good around her calf,” Averette told the outlet.
“Her right left was bit, her arm was bit, and the dog bit on the back of her leg.”
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has taken Maria Vincent into custody, charging her with negligent injuring and allowing her dogs to roam freely.
Sheriff Jason Ard informed the outlet that the dogs have previously attacked pedestrians, as reported by the outlet.
Vincent had earlier been identified for those assaults.
