Kentucky Woman Indicted for Human Trafficking, Child Abuse at Unlicensed Child Care Facility

A woman from Kentucky faces indictment for reportedly operating a childcare facility without a license.

A grand jury has indicted 27-year-old Katelyn Rogers on charges related to human trafficking and criminal abuse, as reported by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office announced on Facebook that the charges arose from their investigation into events that took place in Nelson County from February to May 30 of this year.

In the operation of the childcare facility, she reportedly pressured and influenced an employee to work without compensation, “employing intimidation to ensure her ongoing labor,” as stated by the sheriff’s office.

She has reportedly tried to “influence and intimidate” the same employee to provide misleading information to investigators about the number of children in their care and other aspects of the facility’s operations.

Rogers is accused of manipulating video evidence and erasing text messages to obstruct a current inquiry.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office reported that Rogers deliberately inflicted abuse on a child under 12, involving acts of torture, severe confinement, or other forms of harsh punishment.

The sheriff’s office is urging anyone who may have information regarding this case to reach out to us at 502-348-1840.
