Monticello, KY- A man from southern Kentucky is in custody, facing charges for allegedly shooting and killing his mother and then igniting her home.
Joseph Fulton was taken into custody on Friday evening.
Firefighters arrived at a Monticello home in Wayne County early Friday morning after receiving reports of a fire at the residence of Fulton’s mother, Mary.
Authorities report that Fulton admitted to shooting his mother and igniting the house.

Mary Fulton was confirmed dead by the coroner, found within the charred remains of her home.
Joseph Fulton faces charges of murder and first-degree arson. The bond amount is not known yet. The authorities are investigating what led Fulton to take such extreme steps.
