Greenville, NC: Greenville police have identified and traced the juvenile mother of the newborn infant found in a dumpster on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Officers found the newborn after they went to a call at 1547 Bridle Circle around 10:23 a.m. on Sunday. The call was for a welfare check. The caller reported that a newborn baby was in a dumpster near an apartment complex. Greenville Fire & Rescue took the newborn, who seemed to be just one or two days old, to ECU Health Medical Center.
Despite the chilly weather in the low 40s, the baby was discovered alive and is currently in stable condition at ECU Health Medical Center.
At this point, no charges have been filed, and the juvenile mother’s identity remains unknown. Detectives did contact the North Carolina Department of Social Services to aid with the investigation of the baby and mother.
