Inmate Sexually Abused by Correction Officer, Arrested and Charged after Investigation in Kentucky

Jailer Teddy Lacy acknowledged that an investigation discovered an alleged inappropriate contact between a deputy jailer at the Powell County Detention Centre and an inmate. The inquiry led to the decision to arrest the deputy jailer.

The Stanton Police Department arrested Christine Spencer on Saturday, according to the data contained in the court system. While speaking with the Herald-Leader, Lacy, who is in charge of the detention center, stated that Spencer had been working as a prison officer since the autumn of 2023.

As a result of receiving information that Spencer was engaging in a connection with an inmate, the Powell County Detention Centre initiated an internal inquiry, as stated in a post that was located on their Facebook page.

During the course of the inquiry, “sufficient evidence” demonstrated that Spencer was involved in the connection. As a result, she was charged with the offense and taken to the Clark County Detention Centre.

The charges against Spencer were for sexual abuse in the second degree. According to Lacy, she was released after posting a bond and being released.

In a statement, Lacy stated that the general public should not be concerned about putting their faith in the administration of the correctional center. He stated that he would personally put the handcuffs on a worker under his supervision.

“The trust our community places in the staff here at the detention center is a bond I take very seriously,” he said. “So in the rare instance when that trust has been broken, it’s important to be transparent and take measures for our accountability.

“We want to ensure that the public knows we won’t let impropriety stand with serving the community.”
