Indiana Woman Arrested after She Confessed to Police that She Sexually Assaulted Her Wife: Authorities

Terre Haute, IN- A woman from Terre Haute has been charged with two counts of level 3 felony rape. According to the police, she admitted to the crime when they arrived at her residence.

A recent court case reveals that Sylvia Evinger, a 23-year-old resident of Terre Haute, has been charged with two counts of rape and one misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Indiana State Police were called to a residence on Wabash Avenue on July 16 in response to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival at the scene, Evinger approached the trooper in a distressed state, tearfully pleading to be taken to jail. The woman confessed to consuming a significant amount of alcohol that day, but also allegedly disclosed that she had physically assaulted her wife after a disagreement.

Evinger admitted to authorities that she had sexually assaulted the victim several months earlier. The victim reported to the police that the incident took place on March 11th of this year.

“According to the PCA, Sylvia claimed that she did not orchestrate the incident and was aware that [victim] was not comfortable with it at the time,” the statement said.

Evinger was subsequently placed in handcuffs and transported to the Vigo County Jail as reported by Fox-59 News.

Evinger made an appearance in Vigo County Superior Court 6 on Monday for an initial hearing. According to court records, a second hearing has been scheduled for August 5. According to jail records, Evinger is still in custody as of Monday, with a bond set at $10,000 and 10% allowed.
