Indiana Woman Arrested After Allegedly Throwing Baby in Walmart Fight; Has Prior Arrests as Well

Honk News (Muncie, IN) – An Indiana mother is in trouble after being charged for two altercations with women linked to her former partners. One incident occurred recently when she confronted a mother at a Walmart, reportedly insulting the child and throwing it into a shopping cart after they unexpectedly crossed paths, according to police reports.

Shamesha Hendrix, 36, from Muncie, is facing two separate criminal cases related to two women who were in romantic relationships with men that Hendrix had previously dated, as stated in court documents. Hendrix was taken into custody on February 15 for a preliminary felony charge related to the battery of a person under 14 years old, stemming from an incident at Walmart on January 17. Another reported incident took place at a Family Dollar in October 2024, as stated by the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office.

Muncie Police report that the arrest affidavits from both incidents detail how Hendrix met the female victims in public and then attacked them, even threatening to “pop” one before the assault.

Authorities described the mom and baby who were reportedly targeted in the incident last month, stating: “She and Ms. Hendrix both have children from the same father.” Ms. Hendrix has been creating issues, and they ran into each other at Walmart. Ms. Turner reported that Ms. Hendrix referred to her in a derogatory manner and expressed intentions of physical confrontation.

The incident reportedly took place in the Walmart parking lot in Muncie, where Hendrix exited her vehicle and approached the victim while she was pushing a shopping cart that had a “baby seat” in it, holding her child.

The victim reported that her daughter fell on her side but was secured in the baby seat and did not exit it. Paramedics arrived at the store to assess the child, who, according to her mother, seemed to be okay. The EMS recommended that the baby be taken to the hospital, but the woman declined, leading to a report being filed.

Hendrix reportedly ran away from the Muncie Walmart and could not be found when police arrived at the location. Last Saturday, Feb. 15, she was arrested and taken into custody on a preliminary battery charge. On Tuesday, Prosecutor Eric Hoffman informed Law&Crime that his office is currently examining the case to determine the appropriate formal charges.

Last October, Hendrix was arrested again, facing a misdemeanor charge for battery that resulted in bodily injury. She faces allegations of “knowingly or intentionally” making contact with the victim “in a rude, insolent, or angry manner,” which led to bodily injury, as stated in her arrest affidavit. Officers arrived at the scene that day and reportedly discovered the victim in the Family Dollar parking lot, “pulling loose hair from her head” following an attack by Hendrix, according to the affidavit.

Hendrix and her daughter reportedly assaulted the woman following a confrontation in the store, as stated in the affidavit. “Shamesha approached her and suggested that she should pop her right here,” police reported. “The victim reported that Shamesha approached her and began to pull her hair.”

The victim ran into the parking lot and entered a vehicle, while Hendrix’s daughter reportedly “slapped her in the face” and “attempted to pull her out of the car” afterward.

Hoffman informed on Tuesday that Hendrix has been officially charged in connection with the Family Dollar incident, and her case remains ongoing.
