Illegal Immigrant Arrested after He Molested Teenager; Was HIV Positive when Abused Teen in Florida

Honk News (Bay County, FL) – A man from Jamaica, who was in the United States unlawfully, was taken into custody last week in the Florida panhandle for alleged sexual offenses involving a minor, as reported by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Tommy Ford announced that Damian Gulgar, 44, faces charges related to unlawful sexual activity with a minor and failing to disclose a positive HIV diagnosis during sexual intercourse.

Gulgar, taken into custody on January 29, reportedly confessed to being HIV positive and having a sexual relationship with a teenager during a law enforcement interview.

The office learned of the crime after receiving a report regarding the sexual abuse of a child earlier in January, according to Ford. The young victim was subsequently interviewed by the Child Protection Team at the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, where details of the interaction with an adult male, later recognized as Gulgar, were revealed.

The individual encountered Gulgar through a social media platform and was unaware of his true identity. Authorities in Bay County successfully identified the suspect using crime analysis techniques and search warrants.

Officials discovered that Gulgar was residing in the U.S. unlawfully after his visa had expired, Ford stated during a press briefing.

The Sheriff expressed that the incident is “a very concerning situation” that encompasses several issues the office is actively addressing: the sexual abuse of children, the interactions between children and adults online, and illegal immigration.
