A woman has been charged with murder after a Jackson fireman was shot in the head and died.
The woman is identified as Tammie Williams. The 41-year-old suspect went to court in Hinds County for her preliminary hearing.
It was alleged that she killed her 49-year-old fireman boyfriend Gerald Bates at his home in April.
After it was said that Williams shot Bates, there was a standoff. Hostage handlers and a SWAT team were called to the scene.
The incident took place on Ferguson Drive while firemen were checking on the health of another firefighter.
Once the hour was up, the S.W.A.T. unit used tear gas inside the house, the door was pushed open, and Williams was arrested without any problems.
Williams is accused of murder and gun possession after stealing a gun. A dog inside the house had to be put down because it was mean to police officers as per WLBT News.
The police say Williams and Bates lived together. It is not clear if it was the weapon that was used.
Judge Johnnie McDaniels in Hinds County refused bond for the murder charge but gave a $10,000 bond for the stolen gun.
