How to Get the Skin for the Most Recognizable Assassin’s Creed Protagonist
Fortnite has done well in its crossover promotions and there are almost too many to count at this point. With skins and characters that include franchises from movies to anime, it attracts players of all ages. Since then, the game has become a worldwide phenomenon. Now, this crossover has just gotten wider. Ezio Auditore da Firenze is joining as an available skin for Fortnite accounts everywhere.
A Brief Introduction to Ezio Skin
Assassin’s Creed is a series of games based around the fictional Assassin Brotherhood. It has two ‘storylines’, one set in the past, and one in the present. The modern Brotherhood is trying to keep the Templar Order (in the form of Abstergo Industries) from taking over the world. To do that they have to race to find certain artifacts and keep them safe from the Templars.
They use the ‘Animus’, a device that can read the genetic memory of people. This lets the user experience their descendant’s life through a simulation. With the right descendant who had contact with the artifact, they can see the likeliest places it is hidden and search for it in the present. Unfortunately, Abstergo can also use this device and use a similar method.
In later installments, anyone can use the Animus and explore the memories of important personages. This starts in the modern storylines of Assassin’s Creed IV and beyond.
Who Is Ezio in Assassin’s Creed?
Ezio is the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed II. He’s a brash and impulsive young noble from Florence. After seeing his father and brothers hanged, he fled with his mother and sister to Tuscany. There, his uncle trained him in the ways of the Assassins.
When he completed his training, he went on a quest for vengeance against the Templar Order and its leader, Rodrigo Borgia. From then on, he became one of the most influential Master Assassins of the history of the Brotherhood.
He was the Mentor of the Italian Brotherhood. In his travels, he also collected Altair Ibn-La’Ahad’s Codex pages and saved Florence, Venice, and Rome from Templar rule. In Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, he liberates the Masyaf fortress (an old Assassin stronghold) from Templars and discovered its hidden library.
His journey spanned three games, and as an influential member of the Assassin Brotherhood, appears or is mentioned in many others. He is also the only AC character to have more than one game where he is the protagonist (sans Desmond Miles in the present timeline).
As the most popular AC character, he has become the face of the franchise. Many other games have featured or referenced him in some way. He’s been a guest fighter for Soulcalibur V, his costume can be found or bought for various games, and now he’s being featured as a Fortnite skin.
How to Get the Ezio Fortnite Skin
The skin features Ezio in his classic white robes and dual Hidden Blades. It is a sort of commemoration of the release of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s first DLC. It became available on the same day as the release of Dawn of Ragnarok. Players just must buy either Valhalla or its DLC from the Epic Games Store to get the skin.
The skin will be available for sale on the Fortnite Item Shop at the end of March. Players can buy it from there if they don’t want to buy AC:V. If they bought the skin from the shop and eventually buy AC:V, they’ll be refunded 2,000 V-Bucks for the purchase. There’s no mention of an exact price for the skin as yet though.
Ezio will not be permanently available. If the player refunds AC:V or its DLC’s purchase, the Ezio skin will disappear from their inventory. If they don’t want to play Valhalla, it would be better to just wait for the skin to become available in the shop.
You’ll have to be a PC player to get the skin early, as console users have to wait for it to come out on the shop.
Take a Leap of Faith With the Ezio Skin
The skin also comes with its built-in emote, the Assassin’s Strike. His Hidden Blade is also a harvesting tool that comes with the skin. Lastly, you can set whether his hood is up or not. Although it will be weird to see him using guns, players will enjoy stalking the island while using this skin in their Fortnite account.
Just don’t get hurt trying to fall onto haystacks!
