St. Petersburg, FL: A spokeswoman for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Rod Wave, a rapper from St. Petersburg, inadvertently was taken into custody by the Department.
According to records that were previously accessible online, the rapper, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and charged with “Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon.”
The legal team of Rod Wave, on the other hand, instantly declared the arrest to be false.
“Not only was he not in possession of ammunition, but a simple check of public records would have easily demonstrated to the police that he was not a convicted felon,” attorney Brad Cohen posted on Instagram. “He was not a convicted felon.”

As stated by Melissa Conway, a spokesman for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest was carried out “based on information provided by the St. Petersburg Police Department.”
Conway stated in a statement to ABC Action News that “it was later learned that the information provided (convicted felon status) was inaccurate and Green has since been released.” Green was released when the information was verified.
After a shooting that took place on Easter Sunday in front of the Sonic Sports Bar and Lounge, Rod Wave was and continues to be the subject of an investigation by the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Four people were injured as a result of the shooting, and the police have initiated charges against many individuals whom they believe to be members of the Young Gangsters gang and who have been observed with the rapper since the summer of 2023.
Twenty-year-old Kevontre Wesby, twenty-one-year-old Keith Wesby, and twenty-four-year-old Christopher Atkins have been taken into custody as of this moment.
In addition to being charged with attempted murder in the second degree, Kevontre Wesby was also charged with carrying a hidden firearm and being a delinquent in possession of a firearm. In addition, Keith Wesby and Atkins were charged with murder in the second degree together.
Police have stated that they have warrants for the arrest of two additional individuals who were engaged in the incident. The three arrests were made as a result of visits to two homes, one of which was located in St. Petersburg, while the other was located in Palmetto.
Even though the rapper is not being investigated for the shooting itself, Assistant Chief Mike Kovacsev of the St. Petersburg Police Department has stated that he is being investigated for the items that were taken during two searches. This is because both of the properties were rented by the rapper or one of his businesses.
According to the police, they were able to confiscate a total of five handguns, five rifles, ammo, and more than ten thousand dollars in cash.
In addition, the Young Gangsters were reportedly operating vehicles that were registered in Rod Wave’s name or the name of his record label, as stated by the St. Petersburg Police Department.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Kovacsev expressed his wish that the guy in question would put some space between himself and those who would engage in activities of this sort.
According to the police, the investigation is still ongoing, and, potentially, additional arrests will be made based on the evidence that was taken.
