Florida Mother Stabbed Daughter with Fork after Heated Argument over Cell Phone in North Miami

A woman has been charged with a first-degree felony after North Miami Police reported that she stabbed her 13-year-old daughter with a fork.

Authorities took Kam Avdeyeva Whitaker, 37, into custody on Saturday for aggravated child abuse resulting in significant injury. According to jail records, the incident occurred while she was released on felony bond for stealing a vehicle.

The arrest report states that the incident occurred on Nov. 2 during an argument between Whitaker and her daughter regarding the daughter’s cellphone.

“The dispute escalated to where (Whitaker) grabbed a kitchen fork and stabbed the victim on the left side of her head, causing (a) minor laceration and bleeding,” police wrote.

Officials reported that Whitaker subsequently escaped and was found later at a residence on Northeast 142nd Street on Saturday regarding a different issue. The incident happened in North Miami.

As of Monday afternoon, she remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
