Two brothers from Jacksonville, Florida have been apprehended by the authorities after they killed a man over a minor dispute as per the authorities.
On April 29, Junando Dawkins (30), from Orange County, and his brother Juwaugh Dawkins (34), from Jacksonville, Florida, were found guilty in Ulster County Court of murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Daniel Spotards, a 41-year-old father of two, was found dead at the end of his driveway in the town of Plattekill on Monday, January 2, 2023. The Ulster County District Attorney, Emmanuel C. Nneji, said that the New York State Police were investigating his death as a murder in January 2023.
A cleaning worker in the area found the body and called 911. The investigation showed that Spotards was shot several times close up on Sunday, January 1, 2023, according to the DA’s Office.
Court records show that people in Plattekill also helped with the investigation by calling the police when they saw abandoned cell phones not far from the crime scene. This led the police to the Dawkins brothers.
Officials say that in January 2023, State Police divers found DNA from Juwaugh Dawkins on parts of a Glock semi-automatic gun they found in the Hudson River.
People started looking for the two men. In March 2023, Junando Dawkins was caught at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) in North Carolina, just before he was sent overseas.
Juwaugh Dawkins was found in Florida and was sent back to the United States in June 2023.
“Today, an Ulster County jury of 11 women and one man returned a verdict of guilty in a premeditated murder case,” Nneji said. “Their patience, attention to detail, and courage to serve without fear or favor is a great testament to their commitment to the rule of law.”
As of July, both guys could get up to 25 years to life in prison.
