Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans is currently under increased scrutiny due to allegations of misusing taxpayer funds and being involved in an extramarital affair with NOPD Officer Jeffrey Vappie.
An investigation has been launched by the FBI, specifically targeting the Upper Pontalba apartment owned by the city. It is alleged that the two individuals were seen together at this location during Vappie’s off-duty hours.
According to insiders familiar with the matter, the FBI is currently investigating the connection between Cantrell and Vappie, as well as the duration of their stay in the city-owned apartment.
The New Orleans City Council has taken action to prevent Cantrell and future mayors from utilizing the apartment.
Vappie’s wife has decided to end their marriage following rumors of his alleged involvement with the mayor. There have been numerous sightings of them socializing together in Los Angeles and even Scotland.
According to reports cited by ShineMyCrown.Com, Vappie’s wife stated in court documents that he confessed to having an affair with someone referred to as “Mrs. L.C.,” who is widely believed to be Cantrell.
Both parties have strongly denied any misconduct, emphasizing that their relationship is purely professional.
In a recent report by Fox 8, details emerged about Cantrell’s expenses during a trip to a climate action conference in Dubai in December 2023.
Recent documents unveiled a significant expenditure of $15,000, mainly allocated to cover Vappie’s travel expenses.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors covered Cantrell’s travel and accommodation expenses, while the city provided funds for her spending money and Vappie’s travel expenses. Cantrell has faced past controversies for violating a policy that prohibits the use of public funds for first-class flights.
