Norwalk, CT- During a recent raid on an unlicensed weed shop in Connecticut, police discovered marijuana that had been laced with the dangerous substance fentanyl.
The Norwalk Police Department reported that cannabis products containing THC were confiscated from the ZaZa Smoke Shop in Norwalk during a search warrant execution. The store was found to be operating without a cannabis license.
“Police received information that this location was also selling marijuana laced with fentanyl. Many of the marijuana products seized during the search tested positive for the presence of fentanyl,” the Facebook post read.
A large number of illegal marijuana products were seized, along with almost $2,000 in cash.
During Friday’s raid, authorities apprehended Ali Mahmood Ahmed Abdullah Ghaleb, a 21-year-old resident of New York. He has been charged with various offenses, including possession with intent to sell a significant quantity of cannabis, possession of a cannabis plant, sale of a narcotic substance, and possession with intent to sell narcotics.
Ghaleb’s bail has been set at $15,000 and he is scheduled to make a court appearance on August 16th.
