Authorities are looking into a reported sexual assault that took place at Osbourn Park High School earlier this academic year.
A report was made to police and school officials on Nov. 15 regarding an incident that occurred in a first-floor bathroom close to the gym, leading to an investigation.
A female student reported to the Manassas Police Department that she was assaulted by an unknown person who entered her stall while she was in the bathroom.
A light-skinned or Caucasian individual with a thin build, standing around 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, has been identified as the suspect. During the incident, the individual involved was said to be dressed in an animal costume mask, a dark long-sleeve shirt, and full-length pants of an unidentified color.
The incident reportedly took place in the initial weeks of the 2024-2025 academic year in August. Authorities are still looking into the matter, with no arrests reported so far.
Principal Lisamarie Kane of Osbourn Park High School communicated with the school community regarding the incident, highlighting the school’s dedication to ensuring student safety.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of a deeply troubling incident that occurred at our school,” Kane wrote. “We are deeply saddened by this event and are providing support to the victim and their family during this challenging time.”
The letter detailed the steps the school is implementing following the incident, such as enhancing supervision in shared spaces, limiting bathroom access during class hours, and offering continuous education on safety and reporting protocols.
Authorities are calling on the public to share any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
