Authorities in Florida have detained a man in connection with the homicides of two individuals in Maryland, one of whom was the mother of the guy’s children.
In a press statement, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office stated that on August 25, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 7000 Block of Mandalong Ct., New Market, after reports of gunfire at approximately 7 a.m. The detectives discovered two bodies: Sean Antoine Lange, 34, and Crimea Malita Baker, 33.
The house also had four youngsters who were all under the age of thirteen and were uninjured. According to the children, they sought refuge in a closet as soon as they heard gunfire. When the children decided it was safe to come out, they discovered the dead in a bedroom and immediately dialed for assistance.
Miami resident David Phillip Turner, 33, was named a suspect after an investigation that lasted one month. Turner is the biological father of three of the children who were present in the house when the murders occurred; he had a relationship with Baker before, according to the police. The children resided with Baker and Lange, who were dating then. Authorities said he was the biological father of one of the children. All four children were born to Baker, who hailed from the Chicago region.
Allegedly, at about 1:25 a.m. on August 25, Turner traveled from Florida to Maryland, broke into the house of his ex-girlfriend, and killed Baker and Lange in an upstairs bedroom. The suspect fired more than forty shots, according to Sheriff Chuck Jenkins of Frederick County. The killings, he added, “shock the conscience.”
“This was a heinous, targeted double murder — a crime of rage and anger,” he said.
Around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, Turner was apprehended by police in Florida, including the FBI and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. His current whereabouts are unknown as he awaits extradition to Maryland from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
Two counts of using a firearm in a violent or felony offense, home invasion, and first-degree murder are all against him.
