Rochester, NY– A pit bull attack resulted in the death of a 92-year-old woman in New York.
The death of a woman was located on the west side of the city on Tuesday night, according to the police, and it was discovered following a dog attack.
At approximately nine o’clock in the evening, law enforcement officers arrived at a residence on Orange Street and discovered Velma Leake, who was 92 years old, “clearly deceased.”

According to the police, Leake lived at the residence with other members of his family. When one of the family members woke up and went downstairs, they discovered that Leake had been mauled by a pit bull that belonged to the residents.
There is an investigation being conducted by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office into the cause of death. It is not known, according to the police, whether she passed away as a result of the mauling or from factors other than that.
In the meanwhile, Rochester Animal Services is holding the canine in jail while they conduct additional investigations.
