In Atlanta, some places are more likely to have crime than others. Before you visit or live in these areas, you should be aware of the risks and dangers that come with them. Based on data from several sources, these are the five most dangerous areas of Atlanta, Georgia:
Oakland City:
Oakland City is in the southwest part of Atlanta and is often thought to be one of the safest places in the city. A lot of violent crimes happen there, like murder, rape, theft, and attack.
The typical household income in the area is only $22,857, and 40.9% of people living there are poor.
A lot of people in Oakland City have trouble finding safe, cheap housing, and the neighborhood is close to two other dangerous areas, West End and Adair Park.
Lakewood Heights-Southeastern Atlanta:
Lakewood Heights is in the southeast part of Atlanta and is known for having a dangerous and run-down environment.
Police there often find murder, rape, theft, and attack in the area. There are also a lot of poor people in the area—35.6% of households make less than $27,765.
There are movie and TV sets in Lakewood Heights, such as Tyler Perry sets and Screen Gems Studios, but the area is falling apart and not being cared for.
The West End:
People know West End, which is in southwest Atlanta, for its historical and cultural importance, but they also know it for crime and violence.
There are a lot of violent crimes in the area, like murder, rape, theft, and attack. There are a lot of poor people there—34.9% of households make less than $28,675.
West End is a part of the Atlanta University Center, which is made up of historically black schools and universities such as Spelman College and Morehouse College. However, the area has problems like drug abuse, development, and homelessness.
Grove Park:
Grove Park is in the northwest part of Atlanta and is thought to be one of the worst places to live in the city. Police there often find murder, rape, theft, and attack in the area.
There are also a lot of poor people in the area; 38.4% of households make less than $29,010 a year. Grove Park is close to Bankhead Highway, which is known for having a lot of prostitution and drug dealing going on there.

Adamsville:
Adamsville is in the southwest part of Atlanta and is often linked to crime and gang activity. A lot of violent crimes happen there, like murder, rape, theft, and attack.
There are also a lot of poor people in the area; 28.6% of households make less than $31,345 a year. Rap artists and people who live in the area, like T.I., Killer Mike, and Future, call Adamsville “Tha A.”
However, the area also has problems, such as high unemployment, poor literacy, and differences in health.
Several sites say that these Atlanta, Georgia neighborhoods are the most dangerous. There is a lot of crime and poverty there, and people who live there and visit don’t feel very safe or healthy.
