A childcare worker in Lewes faces charges of abuse following allegations of ‘forcefully grabbing’ a child, according to police reports.

A 22-year-old woman from Lewes faces charges of child abuse following a reported “minor injury” to a child at the childcare facility where she was employed, according to Delaware State Police on Friday.

Kaitlyn Kachnovitz faces serious legal consequences after being arrested this week and charged with a felony for third-degree child abuse, stemming from an incident on November 15. According to police, she was terminated on the same day as the incident.

On that day, law enforcement was alerted to an incident involving allegations of mistreatment of a child by a staff member at Beach Babies Child Care, situated at 31169 Learning Center Lane, as reported by state police.

The facility operates in two sites within Lewes, along with additional centers in Rehoboth, Milford, and Townsend.

At the Learning Center Lane facility, officers were informed that Kachnovitz “aggressively seized a 2-year-old child resulting in a minor injury.”

Kachnovitz surrendered on Monday and was allowed to leave on her own recognizance, according to police reports.
