Dead Body Stuffed in Fridge Discovered in New Jersey Park; Residents Distraught after Second Body Discovered before Holidays

Honk News – A body was discovered in a state park in New Jersey just days ahead of the holiday season.

On Sunday, December 22, authorities found a body inside an abandoned refrigerator located in Belleplain State Forest, situated in northern Cape May County, NJ. Authorities have confirmed that troopers discovered a body in the forest of Dennis Township shortly before 3 p.m., as reported by State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.

“NJSP are actively investigating a body that was found out in the woods in Belleplain,” Dennis Township Mayor Zeth Matalucci shared in a statement on the official Dennis Township Facebook page. “There’s no threat to the public, and more information will be provided once it’s received,” he continued.

Belleplain State Forest, as stated on its official website, was created in 1928 to provide opportunities for public recreation. It spans nearly 23,000 acres and features more than a dozen trails suitable for walking, hiking, and biking, along with several campsites available for visitors. Recreational activities such as boating, swimming, and fishing are allowed in the adjacent lakes and ponds.

Details remain scarce concerning the identification of the body or any theories about the incident, as the investigation continues to unfold. Inquiries have been made to the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, New Jersey State Park Police, and Matalucci for their responses.

Another body has been discovered in eastern New Jersey, marking the second such incident in just two weeks.

A retired teacher’s body, fitting the provided description, was discovered in Galloway Township, New Jersey, two weeks ago. Alan Levin, aged 84, was last seen on December 7, prompting his family to report him missing. Two days later, remains were found along the bank of Nacote Creek, a waterway flowing into the Mullica River, situated approximately 10 miles north of Atlantic City.

“After an extensive search of the area, a drone team from the Atlantic City Police and Fire Departments located a body matching the description of Mr. Levin deceased along the bank, approximately 3/10 of a mile east of the Port Republic Bridge,” authorities said in a post on Facebook at the time.

The Galloway Township Police Department, along with the New Jersey State Police, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Levin’s disappearance.
