Dave Mustaine Net Worth & All We Know About him!
Dave Mustaine is a $14 million net worth American musician and vocalist. Dave Mustaine, co-founder of Megadeth, is one of the most well-known metal guitarists in the world. Prior to joining Megadeth as guitarist and lead singer, Mustaine was the original lead guitarist for Metallica. Mustaine has received several honors throughout the years, including one Grammy and 12 Grammy nominations.
On September 13, 1961, David Scott Mustaine was born in La Mesa, California. Mustaine’s mother is Jewish, despite the fact that he was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness.
Mustaine learned to play the piano and guitar at an early age. His interest in heavy metal apparently began when he was 17 and selling drugs to pay his apartment rent. One of his clients allegedly sold AC/DC, Motorhead, and Judas Priest CDs for drugs, sparking Mustaine’s interest in the musical genre.
David Mustaine began his heavy metal career with the band Panic. Dave was the lead guitarist, and everything seemed to be going well for a time.
However, Panic quickly began to unravel, beginning with a horrible vehicle accident the night following Panic’s second-ever gig. The collision killed Panic’s drummer and sound engineer, and by 1981, the rhythm guitarist had also died.
Panic separated in 1981, and David Mustaine joined Metallica. Mustaine responded to a classified ad and auditioned in front of Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield, despite the two founding members of Metallica notified Mustaine that he had booked the job before he had even completed warming up. Metallica’s debut album, kill ‘Em All, featured Mustaine’s contributions.
The album was not a big hit when it was released in 1983, but it became three times platinum after the financial success of Master of Puppets. Kill ‘Em All was also hailed retroactively by critics, owing to its accuracy and impact on the metal genre.
When Kill ‘Em All was released in 1983, Dave Mustaine was already on his way out of Metallica. He began to dispute with his bandmates not long after joining. Mustaine supposedly had a considerably worse drinking problem than the other members of Metallica, and he was also well-known for his drug usage. Mustaine departed Metallica after many conflicts with other members of the band (some of which were violent). After all was said and done, Mustaine’s enduring contribution to Metallica was co-writing six of their songs.
Mustaine’s second band, Fallen Angels, was a short-lived venture. Although Mustaine stated that they lacked chemistry, their failure led to a friendship with future Megadeth members Dave Ellefson and Greg Handevidt. Mustaine met the duo one night after buying them drinks following a dispute over a potted plant and an air conditioner. At the time, the three were living in flats on top of each other.
Dave Mustaine became a Christian in the mid-2000s, making a complete 180-degree flip and drastically altering his lifestyle. He began to prioritize his family life and became less reliant on drugs and alcohol.
He also began to express strong political beliefs, usually siding with Republicans or declaring himself an “Independent.” He has previously criticized homosexual marriage, Barack Obama, and Satanism.
In 1991, Dave Mustaine married Pamela Anne Casselberry. Over the course of their relationship, they have had two children together. One of Mustaine’s daughters, Electra Nicole Mustaine, is a Country music singer.
Dave Mustaine reportedly offered his San Diego property for $5.4 million in 2015. The house has 9.5 acres of land and 5,345 square feet of living area. Mustaine sold this Fallbrook property for $2 million in 2019, far less than the $5.4 million he was asking but far more than the $900,000 he paid for it in 2012.
