In connection with the death of a young girl who was just two years old, the parents of the girl from Stockton are currently serving time in prison.
The Stockton Police Department reports that on September 9, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence located in the 300 block of West Oak Street in response to a call about a girl who was two years old and refusing to respond. Around 3:15 in the morning, it was reported.
The girl was sent to a hospital, but she did not survive her stay there.
She appeared to be malnourished, appeared to be frail and underweight, and displayed signs of neglect, according to the police.
Her parents were called in and questioned after an investigation was conducted on the matter.
Two individuals, Gregorio Ornelas, 61, and Jessica Chavez, 39, were taken into custody on suspicion of offenses relating to child abuse and were subsequently brought into the county jail.
