Concord police apprehended a married couple following an investigation into disturbing images involving child sex abuse.
“In February of this year, I was alerted to a cyber tip from the New Hampshire ICAC team regarding a potential case in our city involving child sex images,” shared Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department.
Last week, a search warrant was obtained for a home on Bow Street by Concord police investigators and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
Dylan Simms, 27, and his wife, Meredith Simms, 36, were taken into custody.
Dylan Simms has been charged with three counts of distributing child sex abuse images. All charges are considered felonies.
“Whenever you delve into a case like this, individuals may be involved in uploading, creating, or downloading such images,” Thomas explained.
Based on court documents, Dylan Simms was found to have shared explicit images involving a young girl engaged in gymnastics and an adult woman committing sexual assault against a young girl and boy.
Meredith Simms is also being charged.
“Meredith is facing charges of witness tampering, which involves exerting influence on a potential victim or witness in this case,” Thomas explained.
According to Thomas, the Simms had a personal connection with the victims.
He expressed his concern about the occurrence in the city, but mentioned that it is not unusual.
“Regrettably, it occurs frequently,” Thomas remarked. According to Thomas, the internet has made it much simpler for individuals involved in child exploitation to operate.
The investigation is still in progress as reported by WMUR News.
Thomas emphasized the importance of reporting any information related to child sexual abuse.
