A Palm Springs resident has been apprehended for alleged sexual assault and drugging of multiple individuals, including a woman he encountered at a local establishment. The suspect has been arrested and is currently being held without bail.
A man named Juan Segura, aged 27 and from Palm Springs, is facing serious charges including rape and sodomy. In addition, there are formal allegations that some of the victims were intoxicated or unconscious. The defendant has entered a plea of not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court on September 4th.
On August 19th, a woman reported to the police that she encountered an individual referred to as “JC” at a bar in Palm Springs. She proceeded to spend time with him and his acquaintances at a nearby hotel. The woman described a distressing situation where she experienced sexual assault. She later traveled to another location in the Inland Empire and reported the incident to the authorities.
Palm Springs police have identified and apprehended “JC” as Segura, also known as Juan Carlos Segura Jr. The arrest took place on Aug. 21 in the 400 block of E. Arenas Road.
After conducting a thorough investigation, detectives have uncovered evidence linking Segura to other criminal activities. These include a case in March where an individual reported being drugged and raped by Segura, as well as another incident in August where a person experienced memory loss and woke up with injuries consistent with sexual assault, as stated in a PSPD release.
According to authorities, the criminal complaint details incidents involving the use of force, violence, and fear of immediate bodily harm. It also mentions cases where unlawful sexual acts were allegedly performed on an unconscious person, including one involving a minor. Segura faced additional charges related to the use of an anesthetic, intoxicating, and/or controlled substance in two separate counts.
