Police have reported that a Middletown man is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a juvenile boy on multiple occasions across three different towns.
Scott Predom, 60, was charged by Connecticut State Police on Tuesday for alleged incidents that took place in Willington during the summer of 2023. In April, Predom was also charged by Enfield police for incidents that reportedly occurred within their jurisdiction.
Enfield police became aware of the sexual assaults in Willington as part of an ongoing investigation and promptly informed state police detectives, as stated in an arrest warrant from Connecticut State Police.
In late February, an Enfield police detective had a meeting with a relative of the victim to address allegations of sexual abuse. A family member, a woman in her fifties, described a situation where a teenager was involved in inappropriate text conversations with someone named Predom. According to the warrant, the messages were brought to light when a young family member stumbled upon them while browsing through the boy’s phone.
According to a report from Enfield police, as described in the warrant, the boy was interviewed in March and bravely shared “multiple incidents of sexual abuse by Predom.” The boy reported to the police that he was subjected to multiple instances of sexual assault by Predom over a span of three years. These incidents occurred in various locations, such as Willington, East Hampton, and Enfield.
On Wednesday, East Hampton Police Chief Dennis Woessner announced that his agency is currently conducting an investigation into Predom.
According to the warrant from state police, the boy in Willington has reported multiple instances of sexual assault by Predom, which allegedly took place while parked in a cemetery. The boy claimed that these incidents happened when he was 13 years old, which has led the police to speculate that they occurred during the summer of 2023.
On April 21, Predom was arrested by Enfield police in connection with alleged incidents in that town. He faces charges including fourth-degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact, risk of injury to a child, and enticing a minor.
The following day, state police detectives convened with Predom at state Superior Court in Hartford for additional questioning. During the interview, Predom acknowledged his involvement with the boy and claimed that the juvenile was the one who initiated the sexual encounter, as stated in the warrant obtained by MiddleTownPress News.
State police informed Predom during the interview that there were discrepancies in his account. According to the police warrant, Predom abruptly concluded the interview by standing up and stating, “That’s it, we’re done. Goodbye,” expressing their frustration.
On Tuesday, Predom was charged by the Connecticut State Police with several serious offenses, including risk of injury to a minor, illegal sexual contact with a minor under the age of 16, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree sexual assault.
