Arkansas Teacher Maintains Innocence after Alleged Inappropriate Contact with a Student; Faces Trial

A teacher from Farmington facing charges of sexually assaulting a minor has entered a not-guilty plea, as stated in court documents.

Clayton Sallee, 39, was taken into custody on October 7 by the Farmington Police Department for one count of second-degree sexual assault, classified as a class B felony.

A criminal information sheet indicates that Sallee allegedly had sexual contact with a student from Farmington High School on or about September 10. As of October 22, Sallee remains on the school’s staff page.

On October 8, the Farmington School District announced that they had received a complaint in September regarding a staff member’s inappropriate conduct with a student. The statement did not include the name of the employee.

“In response, we immediately collaborated with the Farmington Police Department and reported the allegation to the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Hotline,” the district said.

The district announced that the employee was put on administrative leave right away and has not returned to the school.

Sallee must refrain from any communication with the person involved in the case. He is now out on a $25,000 bond. The date for his trial has been scheduled for January 10.
