A former substitute teacher from DeKalb County has accepted a plea agreement after admitting to charges related to a sexual encounter with a student that occurred in February.
Recent court filings reveal that Stephanie Woods from Henagar admitted to one charge involving a school employee participating in a sexual act with a student on October 7. Woods encountered additional sexual allegations related to the case, but those were dropped as part of her plea deal.
Court documents reveal that Woods received a 10-year prison sentence, with two years to be served under the Alabama Department of Corrections. Following her period in ADOC, Woods has been given a five-year probation sentence. Woods has agreed to a plea deal that mandates her registration as a sex offender in the state.
