The League City Police Department has arrested three people in connection with a string of car thefts.
On March 21, the LCPD received a report of a stolen Chevy Suburban from the 3000 block of South Gulf Freeway. The theft was reported by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
The vehicle was last spotted at Firestone Complete Auto Care.
Detectives immediately discovered that Enterprise Rent-A-Car had over 40 ongoing stolen car cases in Texas over the last 18 months, several including Chevy and GMC SUVs worth more than $2 million.
With the assistance of Enterprise’s investigative team, LCPD began investigating the possibility of an auto theft ring.
Their inquiry led to the discovery of two alleged stolen vehicle processing facilities, one in Brazoria County and another in Fort Bend County.
On April 17, detectives from the LCPD and several other departments carried out simultaneous search warrants at both locations.
The operation resulted in three arrests and the recovery of four stolen vehicles, including the Suburban stolen from League City.
Two vehicles were reported stolen in the Houston region, and one from Tennessee.
The inquiry is ongoing, and more suspects may be implicated. At the moment, no information about the suspects has been revealed.
