Honk News (Bexar County, TX) – Authorities apprehended two individuals and confiscated narcotics valued at $180,000 during a recent operation, as reported by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 20, deputies carried out a traffic stop near Loop 410 South as part of a continuing investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that Robert Gomez III, 34, was discovered with four gallon-sized bags of crystal methamphetamine, an additional bag containing a tar-like substance believed to be heroin, and a .38 caliber pistol.
The sheriff’s office reported that Gomez was apprehended smoothly and without any complications.
Authorities have taken Juan Bustamante, 42, into custody after he was observed exiting a home with a bag prior to his encounter with Gomez and attempted to escape, according to the sheriff’s office.
Bustamante threw away a bag that held eight more gallon-sized bags of crystal meth, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody with the help of the K-9 unit.
Officials conducted a search of Gomez’s home and business, uncovering a money counter and packaging supplies, which indicate a significant drug trafficking operation, according to the statement.
Deputies confiscated around seven kilograms of crystal meth and one kilogram of heroin, according to the statement.
Authorities have identified both Gomez and Bustamante as documented members of a gang, according to the release. The individuals have been taken into custody at the Bexar County Jail.
Gomez faces serious charges, including two counts related to the production and distribution of a significant amount of a controlled substance, classified as a first-degree felony, along with a misdemeanor for unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Bustamante has been charged with a serious offense, facing a first-degree felony for the manufacturing and distribution of a controlled substance exceeding 400 grams.
