Former Mizzou Star Linked to Tulsa Robbery, Arrested in Missouri with Brother

Honk News (Kansas City, MO) – A former standout athlete from the University of Missouri and his sibling were taken into custody last week following claims of their involvement in an armed robbery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Court records reveal that on Thursday, March 6, 34-year-old Marcus Denmon, a graduate of Mizzou, along with 29-year-old Malik Denmon, was taken into custody on allegations of robbery involving a dangerous weapon in Kansas City, following an incident where they reportedly stole thousands from a woman at a Tulsa apartment complex.

On the evening of January 17, almost two months prior, law enforcement responded to a call at the Cascata Apartments located near East 79th Street and South Mingo Road regarding an alleged “ambush.”

A woman was preparing her car for a trip to Kansas City for a friend’s bachelorette party when two armed men appeared and took around $16,000 in cash and personal belongings.

Following the robbery, authorities revealed that they discovered video surveillance from a nearby hotel, capturing a white Chevrolet Malibu departing the apartment complex shortly after the incident.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle originated from a rental service in Platte City, Missouri, and was registered to Marcus.

Court documents reveal that the video captured the vehicle with tinted windows in Tulsa, but upon its return to the Platte City business, the tint was absent.

After coming back to the metro area, court documents revealed that the Denmons had conducted several “suspicious cash deposits” at various ATMs in Kansas City from January 17 to January 26.

On Thursday, authorities took both men into custody and initiated their extradition process. As of Saturday afternoon, both individuals remained in custody without bond at a Jackson County jail.

Marcus hails from Kansas City and is a proud student of Hogan Preparatory Academy. During his four-year tenure at Mizzou, he achieved First Team All-Big 12 recognition as a Tiger.

In the 2012 NBA Draft, Denmon was picked 59th overall by the San Antonio Spurs, later pursuing a professional basketball career across Europe and China.
