Toddler Vanishes With Family Dog, Later Found Dead in River in New York City

Honk News (Westchester, NY) – A tragic incident has occurred as a 3-year-old boy was discovered deceased in a river in Westchester, just hours after he left home accompanied by the family dog.

According to police, the 54-year-old uncle and 85-year-old grandfather of the unidentified toddler began searching for him after noticing he was missing shortly after noon on Thursday. At 2:18 p.m., they notified the police about his disappearance.

A toddler was discovered approximately 20 minutes later in the Mamaroneck River, a seven-mile waterway flowing through southern Westchester, as reported by Village of Mamaroneck Police Lt. P.J. Trujillo.

The individual was declared deceased at the location by Mamaroneck EMS.

Authorities suspect he departed his residence with the family pet and subsequently walked a short distance before tragically falling into the water and drowning. He was probably swept downstream to the Hillside Avenue Bridge, where he was discovered.

Authorities have yet to release further information, such as whether the dog has been located.

The investigation is underway by local law enforcement in collaboration with the district attorney’s office of the county.
