Honk News (Salt Lake City, UT) – A woman from Utah has received a prison sentence following her conviction for the forcible sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy, as reported by the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office.
Rocio Isabel Smith, 45, received a sentence on January 3, 2025, ranging from one to 15 years for each of the two charges of forcible sexual abuse. On November 8, 2024, a jury found Smith guilty of two counts of felony forcible sexual abuse, with her sentences scheduled to run concurrently, as reported by the DA’s office.
“We expect the adults in our community to protect our children, not exploit them,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said in a statement. “We appreciate the jury finding the defendant guilty of both charges and the judge for sending the defendant to prison for these heinous crimes.”
The event took place in October 2021, during which the 14-year-old victim was at Smith’s residence. According to the DA’s office, Smith allegedly made inappropriate contact with the boy under his shirt and persisted despite being informed that he was only 14 years old.
