Man Extorted Child to Obtain Child Abuse Material; Slapped with Charges in South Carolina

A man from Greenwood, South Carolina, is facing charges for allegedly using extortion to obtain files related to child abuse, according to officials.

According to a statement from the office of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lawson Tate Still, 21, faces charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual extortion, both of which are felonies that could result in a 20-year prison sentence.

Authorities obtained a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which directed them to Still.

Authorities reported that Still coerced a minor into providing files of child sexual abuse material.

Officials reported that investigators from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office arrested an individual on Oct. 21 as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Authorities from the Attorney General’s Office, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations contributed to the investigation.
