A woman from Milwaukee faces allegations of child abuse and neglect following reports that a child was admitted to the hospital with serious burns and other injuries earlier this month.
Legal documents reveal that 27-year-old Sandi Goodman faces charges related to ongoing physical abuse and neglect of a child. She remains in custody at the Milwaukee County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.
A criminal complaint reveals that a 3-year-old boy was admitted to a hospital with severe skin damage, described as “coming off” and blistering. A physician observed various injuries on the boy, which encompassed burns and bruises throughout his body. The young boy was quickly sedated and rushed into surgery to address his serious burns. Healthcare professionals observed what seemed to be older, healed burns on the child’s body.
Auto body shops report that a group known for car thefts has adopted a new method for breaking into vehicles, leading to increased expenses for victims.
Investigators conducted an interview with Goodman at her residence. Authorities reported that she claimed to be preparing water for noodles when she stepped away to the bathroom. Upon hearing screams, she returned to the kitchen to discover the child “jumping around and trying to get away from the water.” In a subsequent interview, she attributed other injuries to “bug bites” and refuted any claims of using physical discipline.
Goodman consented to a search of her cellphone and residence by the police. The complaint reveals that a text exchange from Sept. 30 indicated she admitted to physically disciplining the child. A discussion on Oct. 4 raised worries regarding Child Protective Services photographing the boy’s chest.
