3-year-old Autistic Child Covered with Multiple Bruises Rescued; Indiana Mother faces Jail for Brutal Abuse and Neglect

A mother from Mishawaka has been sentenced to serve time in prison after admitting to neglecting her child.

Amy Elizabeth Jackson, aged 23, received her sentence on Thursday, which includes two years in the Department of Corrections, one year of community corrections, and an additional two years of probation.

The judge described the situation as a shocking instance of neglect, highlighting that the victim, who had autism, was non-verbal and unable to communicate the abuse he suffered at the hands of an adult male in the home.

Authorities were initially summoned to look into a 3-year-old with a fractured arm and multiple bruises.

Jackson seemingly did not instigate the abuse, but instead neglected to intervene and did not notify the authorities.
