An individual is alleged to have committed an assault on a young child at the Butler Farm Show recently. The victim is identified as the suspect’s son.
Butler resident Gary Fend Jr. is now facing charges related to the incident that occurred on August 9th.
As per the criminal complaint, Pennsylvania State Police troopers responded to an incident at the farm show around 6 p.m. involving an assault on a juvenile. According to witnesses at the scene, Fend allegedly struck the boy in the face twice with what was described as excessive force.
According to witnesses, the man allegedly used excessive force when pushing the boy back into the stroller. According to the criminal complaint, the force applied was so strong that the stroller collapsed.
Gino Perella claimed to have been working as a vendor and personally witnessed the entire incident.
“I looked back, it was almost perfect timing, that’s when he struck the boy across the face and I thought did that really just happen in front of me and froze for a second,” said Perella. “Then turned to my partner to tell him what happened and then I turned around again and saw him strike the kid again with a hard shove.”
A local hospital evaluated the boy’s condition. Fend faces charges of simple assault, harassment, and endangering the welfare of children.
