Man Tried to Kill Girlfriend; Arrested after Woman Made Distress Call on Time in Florida

A man from Dunnellon has been arrested for reportedly making a violent threat towards his girlfriend during a dispute over $300.

On Thursday, June 13, a deputy from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was called to a nearby residence to address a verbal altercation. According to the arrest report, the deputy spoke with a man named Steve Edward McLellan who alleged that his girlfriend had taken money from him.

According to McLellan, he had transferred $300 to his girlfriend for her to deposit into her account. According to the report, he mentioned that his girlfriend was supposed to return the money to him.

According to the report, the deputy informed McLellan that the issue at hand was a civil matter. McLellan was deeply disturbed and confessed to sending threatening text messages to his girlfriend.

According to the report, McLellan sent threatening text messages to his girlfriend, expressing his anger and making violent threats.

McLellan has been taken into custody. A pat-down search was carried out by the deputy, resulting in the discovery of about one gram of cocaine inside McLellan’s wallet as per Ocala News.

McLellan was taken to a nearby hospital for an assessment. Following his medical clearance, he was transported to Marion County Jail, where he is presently being detained without bond. He is facing charges for possessing cocaine and for sending a written threat to harm or kill.

A court date has been set for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, as per jail records.
