The Tyler Independent School District recently fired a teaching assistant on many charges, including inappropriate interaction with a kid as well as allegations of inappropriate touching and picture solicitation involving other students.
A staff member reported concerns to the cops, leading to the termination of 20-year-old JBraylon Dewayne Fears from Tyler ISD. There was a swift transfer of information to the police and the firing of Fears.
Smith County Jail received Fears’s booking on Thursday, May 2, on allegations of two counts of improper interaction with a pupil, online solicitation of a juvenile, and employing a kid for a sexual performance. The bail amount for him was $600,000.
It has come to light that Fears was involved in a student-teacher relationship at a different Tyler ISD site. According to the students who went to the police, Fears would also touch them improperly, ask for pictures of them on Snapchat, and flirt with them.
When confronted with the charges, Fears vehemently denied them. It wasn’t until the subject of their text exchanges that he finally admitted to being in a relationship with the student. Additionally, he acknowledged soliciting images from fellow pupils.
Teachers and workers who violate Tyler ISD’s zero tolerance policy will face swift termination and the disclosure of any relevant information to the appropriate authorities. The incident was detailed in a letter submitted to the parents. Additionally, campus counselors will be available for students to speak with on this matter.
