Anderson, IN: A sentence of thirty years in jail has been handed down to a suspect from Daleville who was found guilty of sexually abusing a minor.
In Madison Circuit Court 3, Walter Lee Myers III, who is 48 years old, entered a guilty plea to two charges of child molesting, which is a Level 1 felony that has a potential sentence of up to forty years in prison.
A sentence of 39 years was handed down by Judge Andrew Hopper in recent days. The sentence consists of thirty years of jail followed by nine years of probation.
It was decided to reject a third allegation of sexual assault as part of the terms of a plea agreement.
Between the years 2021 and 2022, the Daleville man was accused of sexually assaulting a youngster who was in her early teens on multiple occasions.
Investigations into the matter were carried out by the Indiana Department of Child Services and the Anderson Police Department. According to the affidavit, the initial assault took place in a motel located in Anderson.

According to the victim, Myers made frequent attempts to communicate with her over Snapchat and Facebook Messenger. In addition, she stated that he provided her with cigarettes and electronic cigarettes following one of the sexual encounters.
The allegations of sexual assault against Myers were brought forth in August of 2022. It wasn’t until December of that year that he was taken into custody.

In other instances that were brought before Circuit Court 3, the resident of Daleville entered a guilty plea to the charges of possessing methamphetamine and failing to provide financial support for a child who was dependent on him. As part of the agreement, the charges of strangling, domestic battery, and possession of paraphernalia that were related to the incident were dropped.
Myers was convicted of several offenses in the past, including burglary, failure to return to lawful detention, false informing, maintaining a common nuisance, home entrance, theft, and three convictions for possession of methamphetamine, as stated in the records of the court.
