St. Patrick Day celebrations saw Multiple arrests across Boston; 10 arrested on various charges

Boston, MA: At the historic South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade, which took place on Sunday, almost a dozen individuals were taken into custody. The march was attended by “record” crowds of approximately one million people.

A spokesperson for the Boston Police Department named Michael Torigian stated that the agency made a total of ten arrests during the Saint Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday. These arrests were made on a range of crimes, including assault and battery as well as disorderly conduct. The South Boston District Court is where the suspects are likely to be arraigned this afternoon.

There was also an arrest made by a sergeant from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Transit Police after he saw a man who was “highly intoxicated” and had a gun among the crowd that was gathered near Andrew Square.

“Record crowds” were seen during the parade that took place on Sunday. The march began at Broadway Station and traveled for a distance of 3.5 miles before arriving in Andrew Square.

The turnout caused some residents of South Boston to experience difficulties, as well as the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), which stated at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday that certain Red Line trains would skip Broadway Station. A little over an hour later, the public transportation corporation announced that all trains on the line would bypass the station because of the “heavy crowds” that were expected to attend the parade.

At approximately four o’clock in the afternoon, service to the station was restarted.

In addition, during the celebrations, a number of citizens lodged complaints with the urban government.
