Alabama Food Recall: BBQ Sauce Recalled From Publix Due To Undeclared Fish Allergen

A barbeque sauce has been recalled from the Publix stores in Alabama. The recall happened after the company failed to add the allergen information on the label of the product.

Ventura Foods is removing the Carolina-style mustard BBQ Sauce from Publix Deli because it contains Traditional Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce. This sauce is made from anchovies, which is a potential allergen. This allergen can cause life-threatening situations among the people who are allergic.

The FDA says that the sauce has not yet made anyone sick. It’s only the Publix Deli Carolina-Style Mustard BBQ Sauce that has a use-by date of April 8, 2024.

This recall only applies to the things that Publix took off the shelves. This doesn’t change any other Ventura Foods items. This recall affects other states as well. 6 other states have been affected by this recall.

People should either throw away the Publix Deli Carolina-Style Mustard BBQ Sauce right away or take it back to their local Publix store to get their money back in full.

Contact Ventura Foods Customer Relations at (888) 500-0086, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT, to learn more.
