A mother and her partner are in legal trouble after two young children were discovered roaming the streets, with one suffering from significant injuries.
Kyle Knox, 38, and Kayla Shepard, 29, face serious allegations with multiple charges related to child endangerment, including torture, corporal punishment, and causing serious physical harm.
On November 18, authorities responded to a residence in the 3300 block of Arlene Avenue following a report from a neighbor who discovered a 9-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy wandering in the street, as stated by a Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office representative.
The young ones informed the authorities that they had been abandoned and were searching for assistance. A young boy, just 8 years old, displayed notable and apparent injuries.
Prosecutors claim that Knox, the partner of the children’s mother, repeatedly assaulted the 8-year-old boy, including multiple punches to the face.
With no adults around, the children seized the chance to seek assistance. Knox is presently held at the Montgomery County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.
He is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, December 3rd. Shepard remains free and is scheduled for arraignment on December 5.
