5-year-old Girl Struck and Killed by Truck while Crossing Intersection with Mother in Arizona

Mesa, AZ –  Ariyah Marie Elias was tragically struck by a truck in Mesa, Arizona, while she was with her mother and several other children.

The tragic accident claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl shortly after the Christmas holiday. Elias was struck by a truck while crossing a road in Mesa, Arizona, on December 26 as per reports.

The young girl made her way across the intersection of East Guadalupe and South Hawes Road alongside her mother, Alora Silva, and five other children from the neighborhood. According to local authorities, the truck struck Ariyah as she crossed despite the traffic light having changed.

Emergency personnel implemented critical interventions at the accident site, but unfortunately, the child succumbed to injuries at Banner Desert Hospital, according to reports.

“When she got hit, it spun her around,” said her father Jordan Elias.

The Mesa Police Department has yet to disclose the identity of the driver, who stated that they were unaware of the group crossing the street until it was too late to react. The inquiry continues, according to the local source, and as of December 30, no charges have been brought forward.

Elias and Silva shared that their daughter celebrated her 5th birthday on November 26, just a month prior to her passing.

Silva mentioned that Ariyah still had gifts that remained unopened beneath the family’s Christmas tree.

“I don’t wish this on my worst enemies,” Silva said. “This is the worst thing anyone could possibly go through.”
