Honk News (Battle Creek, MI) – Authorities have apprehended two men and a woman in connection with an incident that occurred at a residence in Michigan on Saturday, January 25.
In a startling incident in Michigan, a 5-year-old was confronted by police after opening the front door while brandishing a loaded handgun.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, a child opened the front door while holding a weapon, confronting a cadet who had arrived to deliver a subpoena at the property on Inn Road, according to a statement from the Battle Creek Police Department.
“The cadet called for a road patrol officer after the child initially answered the door with a large kitchen knife,” police said, per the release. “When the cadet asked the child to have an adult come to the door, the child returned with the loaded handgun, which the cadet removed.”

Officers on patrol reached the scene and discovered two men and a woman within the home. They were apprehended and held for interrogation.

As stated in the announcement, five children ranging from 6 months to 8 years old were found within the residence. Authorities intervened, placing them under Child Protective Services due to the incident and the unacceptable state of the property.
Authorities reported that one child was taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and subsequently transferred to a hospital in Kalamazoo due to health concerns.
“Officials are pursuing weapon charges and neglect charges through the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office,” police said.
Authorities in Battle Creek have confirmed the arrest of a man at the same location for suspected domestic violence offenses on January 12, according to local media source News 8.
A source close to the situation revealed that the woman’s father stated she was residing with the father of one of her children and his friend at the residence. According to her father, she had previously contacted the authorities regarding claims of being assaulted at the residence.
The woman’s father shared, “She was a single mother with five kids trying to do the best that she can after what happened with her baby’s daddy throwing all of the kids’ stuff out and everything and having to scrape through the snow to find them.”
“I love my daughter, I love my grandkids, I want to see everyone back together as a family, that’s all,” he continued, expressing his determination to reunite with his grandchildren.
